WARWICK, RI – The Rhode Island Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is gearing up for its 13th annual Nutrition Fuels Fitness 5K and Health Expo on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Goddard Memorial State Park. Participants can register at: http://www.trimomprod.com/partner-races/riand-nutrition-fuels-fitness-5k/
Proceeds will benefit nutrition education in Rhode Island, scholarships to support local undergraduate nutrition students and this year a portion of the proceeds will be going to Amos House in Providence, a leading social service agency in RI.
The Nutrition Fuels Fitness 5K is a USA Track and Field sanctioned course. Both runners and walkers of all ages are encouraged to partake. The run has previously attracted more than 300 participants along with hundreds more families and friends. Our ever popular Kids Fun Run will be back again this year and starting right before the 5K race. Last year, we had more than 85 children participate in the Kids Fun Run!
All participants, even children, will receive a race T-shirt with registration. We will also have plenty of healthy snacks on hand to refuel after the race and an exciting Health Expo held in the Carousel with booths from local companies and dietitians.
The race begins at 9:30 AM, with registration from 7:00 AM to 9:15 AM the day of the race at the Carousel at Goddard Memorial State Park or on Saturday, April 9th from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Providence Bikes in Warwick.
“This year is promising to be one of our most successful races yet, thanks to some of our great sponsors, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island, Newport Propane and Neighborhood Health Plan,” said Katie Mulligan, President of the Rhode Island Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. “We are also so happy to partner with Amos House this year to help support them in making improvements to some of their family home kitchens.”
